What satellites does TerrAlert use?

TerrAlert uses Sentinel-2 (10 m/pixel, ESA Copernicus) and Landsat 9 (30 m/pixel, USGS/NASA) satellite imagery. Data is accessed via EODAG from the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem.

How accurate is TerrAlert's AI change detection?

TerrAlert uses a Siamese U-Net with ResNet-34 encoder trained on multispectral satellite imagery, combined with independent satellite signals (NASA FIRMS active fire, GLAD/RADD deforestation). Detections are surfaced when sources corroborate rather than on a single model score, which is how the product keeps false positives low.

What types of land changes can TerrAlert detect?

TerrAlert detects deforestation, construction and land development, flooding and inundation, fire and burn scars, and vegetation loss. Custom detection types are available on the Enterprise plan.

How does TerrAlert deliver alerts?

TerrAlert delivers alerts via email (SendGrid) and HMAC-SHA256 signed webhooks with exponential backoff retry. Slack integration is available on paid plans.

Does TerrAlert have a REST API?

Yes. TerrAlert provides a full REST API built with FastAPI. It supports JWT and Supabase OAuth authentication, AOI management, detection queries, Celery job triggering, COG tile access via TiTiler, and webhook management. Full OpenAPI documentation is available at /docs.

Is TerrAlert GDPR compliant?

Yes. TerrAlert implements GDPR Article 17 (right to erasure) and Article 20 (data portability). Users can export all personal data as JSON or permanently delete their account from the account settings page.
